After a decade of planning and development, South East Regional Hospital (SERH) in Bega is now open for business, featuring the latest in bariatric surgical table technology from Hipac. The SERH is an integrated health precinct, one of the first of its kind for NSW Health, with a range of partners providing medical and health services including the Bega Ambulance Station and BreastScreen Australia from the one location.
The hospital site is located at 4 Virginia Drive, Bega and nestles on 17.5 hectares of land just outside Bega's CBD. The floor area of the hospital is equal to the size of four-and-a-half football fields and the head contractor estimates that 486,920 man hours were spent on the project. The new hospital will enable delivery of health care in new and innovative ways, with a suite of enhanced services that will provide the community with a level of care not seen before in the region. With its removable head, leg and back section, extreme table top slide and superior patient weight capacities, three 3602X Ultraslide Operating Tables are in use at the facility to provide an all-in-one surgical solution for all case requirements.
